THE MIRACLE OF HYPERBARIC OXYGEN
                                                            How it works...

Oxygen is the essence of life. Every living thing on this planet would perish without oxygen. With every breath we draw a new supply of this essential chemical into our bodies. Passing through our lungs, every red blood cell picks up a bit of oxygen and tries to transport it to every cell in our body. Our body uses the oxygen to grow, rebuild itself and defend itself from cellular disease and destruction.

Hyperbaric Oxygen simply means pressurized oxygen. And a hyperbaric oxygen chamber is simply an enclosed chamber through which pure oxygen can  flow under a controlled amount of pressure. When a human body is placed into this environment of pure pressurized oxygen a wonderful thing happens... An enormous additional amount of oxygen can be supplied to every part of the body. Depending upon what level of pressure is used, up to 20 times the normal body supply of oxygen can be infused. Suddenly, every living cell in the body reacts to this extra oxygen by becoming more energetic and the body can heal itself. The way it does this is simplicity itself!

One of the laws of physics states “a gas under pressure becomes soluble.” That means that a gas under pressure will be absorbed into a liquid it is exposed to. Oxygen is a gas and the human body is mostly liquid. The result is pretty obvious. Exposed to an environment of pure oxygen under pressure, the body can absorb oxygen into every bit of liquid in the body, not just into the red blood cells. The results are indeed miraculous!

Oxygen is required for cells to metabolize glucose, thus  creating energy  in the form of electricity and heat. A young and healthy body uses about 95% of the oxygen it takes in just to maintain itself. So it can be said the body oxygen supply system (the blood circulatory system) normally operates at 95% of its maximum capability. This doesn’t leave much leeway if the body is faced with a situation where it needs more  energy  to fight off disease or repair broken bones or other trauma. Blood and the oxygen it carries must get to the site of body trauma or disease in order to supply the body's repair or defense system at a cellular level. Often the arterial pathways to such affected sites are partially blocked or choked off and the volume of oxygenated blood  is inadequate to do supply the energy required by the repair cells, already recruited to the injury site.

An oxygen deficiency in some part of the body can cause many bad things to happen. There may be a break down of the nervous system. The electrical system that runs in that marvelous computer that is our brain may be short circuited, such as near-drowning, stroke or a heat attack.  Swelling around a broken bone may restrict the blood supply it needs to repair itself. The slowly changing structure of cells that is caused by aging can make them less efficient and more prone to break down. A bacterial infection may strike with such force that the body' immune system is overcome. The list can go on and on... Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments can help the body to overcome these problems. Broken bones will heal in about one-third of the normal time. Neuro-circuits in the brain may reconnect. Bacteria and fungus can be killed.
